The CIDC is the group of producer volunteers elected by industry organizations to administer the CIDC check-off, the Beef Cattle Industry Development Fund and the Horn Levy. Council meets quarterly to review operations and consider funding applications.

The national check-off is a mandatory levy of $1 per head collected on cattle sales throughout Canada to fund research and marketing activities on behalf of the entire industry. It is collected from cattle producers when they market their cattle by provincial organizations, using their existing collection systems involving auction markets, order buyers, brand inspectors and others who handle cattle sales.

The BCRC is Canada's national industry-led funding agency for beef research. The BCRC is funded through a portion of a producer-paid national levy as well as government funding, and is directed by a committee of beef producers from across the country.

Canada Beef Inc. is an independent national organization handling the marketing and promotion of the Canadian cattle and beef industry worldwide. It's efforts to maximize demand for Canadian beef and optimize the value of Canadian beef products are funded by cattle producers through the National Beef Check-Off, which in turn makes it possible to access beef industry market development funds provided by the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta. Canada Beef can often bring further value to producers by leveraging producer and legacy funds against private industry partner contributions for an overall benefit of 9:1 on partner programs.

As the national "voice" of Canada's 63,500 beef farms , the CCA structure represents every phase of the production system; the purebred, cow/calf, backgrounding and feedlot sectors. Our association was founded by producers and is led by a producer-elected board of directors from across Canada. The CCA works with other sectors of the agriculture and food industries on matters of mutual concern.

The CBGA is a private, non-profit corporation. They have been accredited by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to deliver grading services for beef in Canada. The grade standards are set by the Federal Government based on recommendations from the Industry/Government Consultative Committee on Beef Grading.

British Columbia's brand registration and inspection program protects cattle, horse and bison owners against loss of animals by theft, straying or misappropriation. The program consists of the registration of livestock brands and the inspection of cattle and horses for lawful possession prior to transportation, sale or slaughter. The program is financed in its entirety through brand registration and inspection fees paid by the livestock producers.
